From Recorder to Browser: A UMEVO Note One and UMEVO Web Workflow

Published: | Updated:
From Recorder to Browser: UMEVO Note One, the UMEVO App, and UMEVO Web in a cross-device recording and notes workflow.

A client interview rarely ends when the conversation does. You still need to check what was said, pull out the decisions, and turn the recording into notes you can use at your desk.

With UMEVO Note One, you can record on the device, bring the audio into the UMEVO App, generate a transcript, summary, and mind map, then continue editing in UMEVO Web. You do not need to send the recording to yourself or start a separate transcription task just to move from your phone to your computer.

Here is how that workflow fits together, using an in-person client interview as an example.

Before the interview: connect and check the recorder

For first-time setup, install the UMEVO App, sign in, and connect and bind Note One to your account. Account binding and activation require an internet connection. After setup, the recorder does not need to stay connected to your phone to capture audio.

Before you begin, agree with the participants that you will record, choose NOTE Mode for the in-person conversation, and check the device's battery and available storage. Make a short test recording and play it back to check placement and volume.

Keep an eye on battery and storage during longer sessions. Note One does not automatically save a recording when the battery is low or storage is full, so stop and save before either becomes a problem.

1. Record the conversation on Note One

Place the recorder on the table with its microphones unobstructed. Start recording and confirm the recording status on the device. Your phone can stay out of the way while you focus on the interview.

The original audio is stored locally on Note One. Recording does not require internet access, and disconnecting or locking your phone does not stop the device from recording.

At the end, stop and save the recording. Note One cannot transfer files while it is recording, so saving is the handoff between capture and the next part of the workflow.

2. Find the recording and add it to your App list

Reconnect Note One in the UMEVO App. Bluetooth is the default transfer method; optional Wi-Fi fast transfer provides another way to move recordings locally. Neither local transfer method requires a router or internet access. For the connection details, see our Note One file-transfer guide.

If you recorded independently of the App, the file does not automatically appear in the main recording list. Use this path:

  1. Open All Files in the recording list.
  2. Under From Device, choose Meeting Mode for this interview. Use Call Mode when looking for a call recording.
  3. Select the recording with the matching date and time.
  4. Tap the green Add to List button.
  5. Return to the main list and open the recording.

An Added label means the recording has already been added. Confirm Delete is a deletion command, not an import step.

All Files menu in the UMEVO App showing Meeting Mode and Call Mode under From Device Recording action panel in the UMEVO App with the green Add to List button
Find an independently recorded file under From Device, then use Add to List to make it available in your recording list.

Wait for the full audio transfer to finish and play a section to check it. A fully transferred recording remains playable in the App after you disconnect the recorder and take the phone offline. Transfer does not automatically delete the original file from Note One.

3. Generate the transcript, summary, and mind map

When your phone has internet access and AI minutes are available, open the recording and tap Generate.

Choose Auto Generate for the default workflow, or Custom Generate to choose a summary template, audio language, and speaker-labeling settings before you begin. For a client interview, choose an available template that fits the notes you need, or use a template you have created yourself.

Tap Generate Now and wait for processing. The transcript, summary, and mind map are generated together after recording; Note One does not provide live transcription while you speak.

These outputs serve different purposes:

  • Transcript: return to the wording of a specific answer.
  • Summary: review the main topics and conclusions without reading the whole transcript.
  • Mind map: see how the discussion's topics connect.

The mind map is included in that generation task without an additional minute deduction. You do not need to run a separate transcription task for each output.

4. Check the details before you share them

Use the Source tab to read the transcript and the Note tab to review the summary. When a statement matters, use its timestamp to return to the audio rather than relying on the generated wording alone.

For a client interview, check names, figures, deadlines, and who agreed to do what. A proposed launch date is not necessarily an agreed deadline, and a suggestion should not become a confirmed action item in your final notes.

You can edit the transcript and summary. You can also change labels such as Speaker 1 and Speaker 2 to names after checking who is speaking. Mind maps can be viewed and exported, but they are not editable.

If the transcript is suitable but you want a different summary structure, open Note, tap the + beside Summary, and choose Change template. This regenerates the summary without retranscribing the audio or deducting more minutes. It is different from rerunning the complete AI task, which deducts minutes again based on the full original audio length.

5. Continue on your computer with UMEVO Web

Private Cloud Sync connects the App and browser parts of this workflow. It is enabled by default and synchronizes original audio, transcripts, summaries, and mind maps. Check that it is enabled and allow the recording and results to sync before switching to your computer.

Private Cloud Sync settings in the UMEVO App, including Enable Private Cloud Sync and Sync only on Wi-Fi
Keep Private Cloud Sync enabled to synchronize your recording and notes between the App and UMEVO Web.

Open web.umevo.ai in a mainstream browser and sign in with the same UMEVO account you use in the App. UMEVO Web is browser-based; you do not need to install a desktop application.

Open the synced recording and continue reviewing or editing the transcript and summary on the larger screen. With cloud sync enabled, content and edits synchronize in both directions between the App and Web. You can review the interview on your phone, refine the notes at your desk, and return to the updated content in the App.

UMEVO Web home screen showing Recent Files, Import Audio, search, folders, and templates
UMEVO Web provides browser access to your recordings and notes. Open the image to view the interface at full size.

Opening or editing an existing result is not a new transcription task. If you import audio directly into Web and generate new results there, Web and the App use the same minute balance, not separate allowances.

6. Export the version you need to deliver

Both the App and Web support exporting audio and generated content. In the App, open the share icon at the top of the recording details and choose Export file. Select the content and format that suit the next task.

For example, you might export the reviewed interview summary as DOCX to continue drafting a client report, or PDF to distribute a readable copy. The App also supports TXT and SRT for transcript and summary exports, MP3 for audio, and JPEG or Markdown for mind maps. When exporting from Web, use the options available in its export panel.

If you prefer a link, the share panel also offers Share link. Recipients can open the link without signing in, and you can revoke it later. Check the content before sharing: an exported file or shared recording may contain client details you do not want to distribute.

For the full on-screen instructions, visit the UMEVO App Guides.

What if the recording does not appear on Web?

First, check that you are signed in to the same account on both devices. Then confirm that Private Cloud Sync is enabled, the phone has internet access, and syncing has finished. If Sync only on Wi-Fi is enabled, connect the phone to an internet-connected Wi-Fi network for cloud syncing.

Remember that adding a file to the App list, transferring the audio, generating AI results, and syncing to Web are separate steps. A file visible on Note One has not necessarily completed all four.

For an independently recorded file, start with All Files → From Device → Add to List. For a file that plays in the App but has no transcript, check that the AI generation task has completed. For notes that are ready in the App but missing on Web, check cloud sync rather than running the AI task again.

Keep the recording connected to the work that follows

The value of this workflow is not just having a recording on another screen. It is being able to follow an interview from the original audio to checked, editable notes without losing track of the source.

Use Note One to capture the conversation, the App to bring it into your library and generate notes, and UMEVO Web to continue reviewing and editing at your desk. Export the reviewed result when it is ready for the next person or task.
